Working For the Knife (Mitski)

Firstly, this song is flooded in nostalgia-- I remember posting, "Mitski's back?!" I also remember me and my internet best friend, Marie, were so hyped for it! Secondly, this is easily one of the most relatable songs I have ever come across. I always feel bittersweet when I listen to this song. I feel so much euphoria in feeling so understood and seen. This song almost feels like a lullaby to me, like something that is there to soothe you, but is there to teach you a valuable lesson at the same time. Or remind you of what is worth fighting for.

W-W-W-W-W (Hemlocke Springs)

I mean, this is just a masterpiece. The way every sound blends in, and the build up as the song progresses--just beautiful. On another note, every time I hear this song, I tell myself I must to take a deeper into the inspiration behind the song (which was a documentary). However, as a lesbian, I love to pretend that I had subjected myself to a traditional lifestyle. And that I had, regrettably, led a life that centered men above all else (I am so dramatic). But hey, it IS the patriarchy we are talking about here. Child enslavement ties into the patriarchy, seamlessly. I deeply appreciate Hemlocke's art, as she delves into topics that surpass the boundaries of romantic love and touch on subjects regarding religion and power.

Mystery (Raveena)

This song never fails to make me feel like I am HOME. Mystery reminds me of the book, "Feed," by M.T Anderson---mainly because the song is alluding to visting the moon, largely as a result of being wise enough, old enough, to travel to the moon together with someone you cherish. The moon, which is impossible grandeur. This song also reminds me of my favorite movie, "Soulmate" (both Chinese/Korean versions). I adore how bittersweet this song is. I love how sapphic it is. And I especially appreciate the occurence of a short-lived romance. The song is so bittersweet to me, and that is what makes it feel so real to me. In the end, Raveena sings, "I could tell you want to be alone, I forget that." The distance, the longing, the understanding and respect for the other person's wants.

Naked in Manhattan (Chappell Roan)

This song makes me feel comfortable in my sexuality. Because she's so right, "Could go to hell, but we'll probably be fine." This song also paints scenic treasures in my head that remind me of a profound "girlhood." When I hear this song, I think, colorful eyeshadow, loose powdered glitter, play butterfly wings, secrets, body shimmer, sleep overs, and sheer pink drapery.

Sun don't Leave me (Raveena)

This song reminds me of my mortality. It reminds me of the end of everything. This feels like a sunrise-- I feel renewed and reborn. At the same time, I feel like the end is approaching quickly. Very contradictory. To me, this song is about mourning. If the phrase "sun-drunk" was a song, it'd be this one. Good morning or good mourning?

Pinky Star (GWSN)

This song always reminds me of my internet best friend, Marie. So much nostalgia. Actual serotonin. Like I just lit a candle with a scent I have been looking for my whole life. This song has so much depth to it, this is for the polyphonic enjoyers.

LOONATIC (ODD EYE CIRCLE)

Picture this: It's 2017, ODD EYE CIRCLE is in their birth place (LA), and they're strolling around on Santa Monica pier. Listening to LOONATIC feels freeing-- it's like yelling into the forceful wind by the sea-- your voice is completely muffled. Wind blowing through your hair. You just accept all alterations.

The Ocean (Lemon Demon)

This song is on a different frequency, literally. Everything about this song is perfect. Voice inflections and all! Wouldn't change a thing. Words cannot describe how fun this is so fun to recite.

Valentine, Texas

I have listened to this song COUNTLESS times, and it STILL gives me goosebumps on my skin single every time. Something about the simplicity of this song, up until every sound imaginable drops at the same time. "Where clouds look like mountains" is scenic, serene imagery. I have noticed, a lot of Mitski's music sounds very melodic on the top layer, but if you really listen, you can hear the sounds on the lower layer that sound almost discordant-- like if they did not belong.

Ring of Chaos (Jinsoul)

Despite the fact that this song and "Singing in the Rain" by Jinsoul are completely different-- I get very similar vibes. What's more to say-- these songs are just so much fun to listen to. At the same time, they have an edge to them. I feel so optimistic and bubbly when I hear this song. Don't mind me, I am having the time of my life.

NMIXX (High Horse)

This song is a perfect mix of upbeat and melancholic beats. Vocals are heavenly, lyrics are cinematic. This entire song is cinematic and the rhythmn of this song is otherworldly to me.

LOVE FOOL (STAYC)

The build up, up until the end of the prechourus-- I have yet to hear another's chorus song as satisfying and heartfelt as that. I imagine there were many iterations of this song before they concluded this one-- I do not even have to listen to the other versions to KNOW in my heart that this one was the ONE. This song reached it's highest purpose and potential. Nobody does it like STAYC. Harmonious, elegant, poised, but so emotionally charged.

Butterfly (LOONA)

This song takes me back, WAY BACK. It reminds me of why I fell deeply in love with LOONA. They are incredible performers, a harmonious group, and carry the essence of sisterhood. The choreography version of this song makes me want to sob uncontrollably-- I always get teary-eyed watching videos of the choreo-- Yeojin looks so young, Yves's distinct voice, Kim lip center, Haseul's short, dark hair-- I wish time would stop and reverse so that I can attend KCON (LA) in 2019, when they performed Butterfly.

Osmanthus to Summer

Vanilla, but the freshest vanilla scent out there. This scent smells cleaner than fresh laundry. I am laying on tall, whispy grass. "Osmanthus to summer" smells both like a cold gush of wind and a warm gush of wind. This is a very balanced scent. I'd wear this everyday.

Girl of the Year, Thin Wild Mercury

Think-- burned incense, specifically the kind that the Catholic church burns during mass. Old antique store, a smoker's jackets. This scent is for a particular audience. I believe, it provokes strong imagery and/or memories. This is not a generic scent! This one is a little chaotic, and earthy. This perfume is a specific image to me.

Freckled and Beautiful, What We Do is Secret

At first, the scent comes off as strong. Once the scent has settled down, it smells powdery and citrusy, but with a little bit of an edge. Notes of sandalwood.
